At the time which I am writing, we are living in very uncertain times; the menace of Covid 19 is revamped after the summer break and the virus seems to be back in action, stronger than ever. People are constantly bombarded by the terrible news about the increase of infections and deaths thought-out the Country, and the upcoming winter looks more and more uncertain and threatening, not only from a health point of view but also from an economic perspective.

At the end of 2017, I decided to embark on a street portraiture project in between a social experiment and a photographic self-assignment, giving myself few simple rules: to only photograph people I meet by chance in the streets of Lucca. No candid shots. No staged photos. Focus on faces. Eye contact through the lens.
